Currently Craving...

A couple of weeks ago I splashed out and bought these beautiful Salvatore Ferragamo sandals and this weekend I finally got the chance to wear them!

Which then got me looking at the whole Ferragamo range and WOW!!  I now want them all!!

All of the above please!

Wedding Wednesday - Decoration

When it comes to decorations for a wedding there are almost too many options, it is easy to become overwhelmed.   We're pretty lucky in that our venue really doesn't need much dressing...maybe just some candles and a few vases of flowers, but on my searches I couldn't help, but fall for these beauties!

Inspiration v Motivation

I'm going to be honest I have been struggling the last couple of weeks...I am constantly inspired and have so many ideas of things I want to do, but I am really lacking in motivation to do anything.  Just writing that sentence makes me want to cry...yes I know that sounds dramatic, but every night I go to bed annoyed at how little I have achieved.

I am definitely afraid of failure and I think sometimes I put projects off so I don't fail...if I don't try I can't fail right!?

I need to find a strategy to work through this as at the moment it is making me miserable...

So things I AM going to achieve by the end of this month...

  1. Make at least one new cushion for my Etsy shop
  2. Design at least 5 new cards
  3. Post in the Etsy group I've been invited to join (can you believe it, little old me!)
  4. Make candles for the wedding
  5. Blog more!
  6. Put either my Etsy or Blog link on Facebook (this is a biggie for me!)

Note to self...

Wedding Wednesday...invitations

Yesterday we posted out our invitations.  After working on them for the last couple of months it was a relief to get them out of the door, but also slightly nerve wracking.  We had put our heart into them...what if people didn't like them!?  We do so I guess that is all that really matters!

our invites lined up and ready for their envelopes...
Whilst we designed our own invites there are so many great resources out there to find your perfect match.  Some good places to start are Etsy and Paperless Post

Fingers crossed our guest will love their invites as much as we do!

Run Forest Run...

Today is a good day, today is the first day in a year that I have been for a run and it felt GOOD!

Up until 2010 I was not a runner, I thought I hated running, and then on a complete whim during a particularly difficult time in my life and watching Run Fat Boy Run I signed up to do the London Marathon - what was I thinking, I could barely run for the bus!?!

Fast forward a year and I completed the London Marathon in 4hours and 52minutes.  To say I was proud of myself would be an understatement, but aside from the feeling of achievement it was the strength that running gave me, both physically and mentally, that was addictive.

During the marathon I suffered some knee pain for which I had 6 months of physiotherapy, during this time I couldn't run and as felt my physical fitness slip away from me I got more and more disheartened and found it harder and harder to get back in the game.

But today that all changed, I set myself the challenge of putting on my trainers...thats all no time, no distance just put on the trainers.  AND. I. LOVED. IT!  I'm Back.

Now for some new kit...

If this event hadn't been on the weekend of my Hen Party I would have definitely been there

Wedding Wednesday - Photos

For me the photos are one of the most important parts of the day.  After all the hullabaloo has died down the photos are the thing you can both look back on.  I am also hoping that they will capture many moments that we don't manage to see.  With all this in mind we really wanted to make sure that we picked the right photographer, so after booking the venue finding our photographer was the next priority...step up Mister Phill!

Aside from the lovely images on Phillip Allen's website and blog what really drew me to him was his explanation that he creates "still images that are filmic in tone and exploratory in nature"  He continues that he loves "to tell stories through images" which all sounded just perfect to me.

We're meeting him in a couple of weeks to talk about the style of photos we like, I'm hoping we'll have lots like this to look back on...

Spring Cleaning

This time of year always a elicits a cleaning frenzy, but this years is even more feverish mainly due to the the fact that my parents are selling the family home to start their retirement in Dorset.  This is a time of mixed emotions for me and my siblings we're sad to see the home that we've had so many good times in while growing up being sold, but excited for our parents to start their new life.

BUT all the emotion aside it has also meant we have had to clear out, in my case, 34 years of 'stuff'.  After a couple of days of sorting what could go to a better home and what I wanted to keep I am now left with 3 boxes of bits and peices that now need a new home in my little flat...hence the need for some serious spring cleaning (or should that be clearing?).

I am going to try and keep the words or William Morris in mind whilst working through the clutter...wish me luck!

Big Weekend...

This weekend was super exciting for my family not only was it my little sisters little brother got engaged!!!  A double celebration!  So as you can imagine the weekend was spent filled with lots of bubbles.

My brothers new fiancee doesn't like to sleep in her jewellery so I decided to make her something to keep her beautiful engagement ring safe inspired by this DIY on The Vault Files

I used a small white ceramic tray I had bought just waiting for an opportunity like this and gold leaf pen.  I drew on the detail with pencil and then very simply when over it with the gold leaf pen...easy peasy.  It includes a heart (obviously!), their initials and a crown as she will be becoming one of us excited to be adding another sister to our family.

She's A Real Lady...

Victoria Beckham's new e-commerce website launched this week and whilst I would happily add any of the items to my wardrobe it would require me re-mortgaging my flat as the cheapest piece on the site is a pair of classic aviators for £305.  BUT, if I were to be given a supermarket sweep style free pass I would grab these three items...

Wedding Wednesday - Let Them Eat Cake!

This weeks wedding post is all about cake.  We've had so much fun looking at all the different style of cakes out there...who knew there were so many!?  We've not had any tastings yet, but I am very much looking forward to that stage, hopefully I'll still fit in my dress!

We particularly like the ruffled effect and are hoping that we'll be able to achieve this with butter icing...

Cover Me In Jewels

I am a big believer that jewellery can make or break an outfit.  I have been having a love affair with statement necklaces for about a year as my ever growing collection can attest to!

I could find a home for all of these lovelies...

Happy Feet...

Last Thursday afternoon my day was instantly cheered up by the arrival of these little beauties.

The collaboration between Nicholas Kirkwood and Disney’s Oz The Great and Powefull launched at London Fashion Week last month, but this was the first time I had seen the shoes in the flesh.

The shoes were inspired by the three witches in the film: Glinda, Theodora and Evanora.   The Evanora inspired shoes were definitely my favourite, they had to prised off my feet at the end of the day!

To find out more about the collection click here and if you fancy snagging yourself a pair head on down to the Selfridges Shoe Carnival!

Spring Has Sprung...

Today is the first day of Spring...not that you would know based on the weather.  Over the past week I have been trying to encourage Spring to come out of hiding by including lots of colour in my work outfits, but to be honest it really doesn't seem to be working.  I cannot wait for that first day when I can confidently ditch the black opaque has been a long time coming.   This skirt will be first out of the wardrobe...its done me well with tights and a big jumper through the winter, but it just looks so much better with bare legs.

Wedding Wednesday

I am so excited to be getting married this June and while this is not intended to be a 'wedding blog' it's such a big part of my life right now there is no way I could not include welcome to the first Wedding Wednesday!

We are very lucky to be getting married in what I think is one of the most beautiful spots in the UK...the Dorset coast.  We are having a traditional Church ceremony at the church my Mum and Dad attend - Poole Christian Fellowship - and then we'll transport our guests by coach to the Sandbanks to Studland Ferry where we'll cross as foot passengers (so excited about the photo opportunities!) and make the short stroll to Shell Bay Restaurant.

We knew we wanted to get married in Poole and soon after James popped the question we started the online search for the perfect venue... approximately five minutes later we found it - Shell Bay.  We fell in love.  A week or so later we drove down from London to Poole to look at different locations, because you can't just chose the first venue you see online right? Wrong!  As soon we set eyes on Shell Bay on a rainy cold December Saturday we both knew this was 'The One'.  It was so pretty and the views were incredible even though it was closed and it was a miserable day.  Then the panic set in, we had set our hearts on a June wedding and that was only 7 months away, would they be able to fit us in.  Cue some frenzied emails and calls and followed by a HUGE sigh of relief when every Saturday in June was was meant to be!

Check out these pictures to see what all the fuss is about...

I mean seriously it doesn't even look like the UK.  Here's hoping for a beautiful sunset on the big day.
