Run Forest Run...

Today is a good day, today is the first day in a year that I have been for a run and it felt GOOD!

Up until 2010 I was not a runner, I thought I hated running, and then on a complete whim during a particularly difficult time in my life and watching Run Fat Boy Run I signed up to do the London Marathon - what was I thinking, I could barely run for the bus!?!

Fast forward a year and I completed the London Marathon in 4hours and 52minutes.  To say I was proud of myself would be an understatement, but aside from the feeling of achievement it was the strength that running gave me, both physically and mentally, that was addictive.

During the marathon I suffered some knee pain for which I had 6 months of physiotherapy, during this time I couldn't run and as felt my physical fitness slip away from me I got more and more disheartened and found it harder and harder to get back in the game.

But today that all changed, I set myself the challenge of putting on my trainers...thats all no time, no distance just put on the trainers.  AND. I. LOVED. IT!  I'm Back.

Now for some new kit...

If this event hadn't been on the weekend of my Hen Party I would have definitely been there

Wedding Wednesday - Photos

For me the photos are one of the most important parts of the day.  After all the hullabaloo has died down the photos are the thing you can both look back on.  I am also hoping that they will capture many moments that we don't manage to see.  With all this in mind we really wanted to make sure that we picked the right photographer, so after booking the venue finding our photographer was the next priority...step up Mister Phill!

Aside from the lovely images on Phillip Allen's website and blog what really drew me to him was his explanation that he creates "still images that are filmic in tone and exploratory in nature"  He continues that he loves "to tell stories through images" which all sounded just perfect to me.

We're meeting him in a couple of weeks to talk about the style of photos we like, I'm hoping we'll have lots like this to look back on...

Spring Cleaning

This time of year always a elicits a cleaning frenzy, but this years is even more feverish mainly due to the the fact that my parents are selling the family home to start their retirement in Dorset.  This is a time of mixed emotions for me and my siblings we're sad to see the home that we've had so many good times in while growing up being sold, but excited for our parents to start their new life.

BUT all the emotion aside it has also meant we have had to clear out, in my case, 34 years of 'stuff'.  After a couple of days of sorting what could go to a better home and what I wanted to keep I am now left with 3 boxes of bits and peices that now need a new home in my little flat...hence the need for some serious spring cleaning (or should that be clearing?).

I am going to try and keep the words or William Morris in mind whilst working through the clutter...wish me luck!

Big Weekend...

This weekend was super exciting for my family not only was it my little sisters birthday...my little brother got engaged!!!  A double celebration!  So as you can imagine the weekend was spent filled with lots of bubbles.

My brothers new fiancee doesn't like to sleep in her jewellery so I decided to make her something to keep her beautiful engagement ring safe inspired by this DIY on The Vault Files

I used a small white ceramic tray I had bought just waiting for an opportunity like this and gold leaf pen.  I drew on the detail with pencil and then very simply when over it with the gold leaf pen...easy peasy.  It includes a heart (obviously!), their initials and a crown as she will be becoming one of us Kings...so excited to be adding another sister to our family.
